Fred Openshaw Farms

Fruit Orchard

We’re a multi-generational farm started by Dr. Eli Openshaw. Eli originally bought and planted the first orchard block as a way for individuals to work and receive medical care during the Great Depression. Later on first Fred bought the farm from his father Eli and expanded the farm as well. Fred loved interacting with customers and providing them with information on how all the fruit was grown. He is personified in our company logo. Throughout the years the farm has been passed down from the first Fred to his son Fred HC who expanded the farm as well. Later on his son Fred C continued to work and run the farm with his Dad Fred HC. As the years went on Fred C’s son Fred A. also worked on the farm and later helped run the farm with Fred HC and Fred C. Currently our family farm is run by Fred C and Fred A. We currently have 20 acres of fruit orchards. Our Goal as a farm is “Honor the past generations and continue to provide quality produce in the future”. Our values as a farm are to continue to grow the farm so that future generations can continue to be a part of agriculture.

With our family farm, we sell most of our crops directly to consumers. We have also offered U-Pick apple opportunities, field trips for different schools or educational groups, and a farm store for people to stop by and pick up fresh amazing fruit. We also sell our produce at 7 different farmers market locations throughout the state. We’ve also done fruit pickup locations where other individuals throughout Utah can access fresh fruit from our farm.

I’m a 5th-generation farm on our family farm here in Santaquin, Utah, and the 4th Fred to work on our family farm. Some additional information I grew up working on our family farm my whole life and while I was in High School being a part of FFA I grew to love being out on our farm and being a part of bringing delicious fruit from the tree to the consumers’ table. With that desire, I got my master’s degree in Ag Econ from Utah State and then moved back with my family to continue to be a part of our small family farm. The farm is truly a family endeavor and a part of who we are.
